Countryside setting, near a 5-hectare bird sanctuary with hides, on a lake with a large, sandy, dog-free beach

A good modern site, convenient not only as a stopover between the ports and south-west France, but also for longer stays. It’s great for both families and couples, with on-site leisure facilities as well as the nearby golf, fishing or watersports. It’s also a good choice if all you want to do is relax or visit the local Vienne area, with historic Poitiers and the theme park of the moving image, Futuroscope, close by.

Owned by a private company; run by Monsieur Mazé, English spoken.

Location

A10 motorway 8 miles, Futuroscope 9 miles, Poitiers 12 miles, Tours 52 miles. Modern facilities set in well-maintained, attractive grounds.

Local transport (2017): none available in the locality.

Pitches

Generally larger than average pitches; open, part-shaded and shaded; all with electricity (10A), water and drainage. Lakeside pitches are on the site's perimeter closest to the lake, but do not have a view of the lake.

Very indifferent check in experience and was charged tourist tax despite this being inclusive (club did resolve this for us when we contacted them and got a refund on our return). Lovely setting by lake with direct access also a nice looking pool. Pitches in pairs seperated by hedges although access road quite narrow. Thank goodness for our mover. Good location for the area attractions. Site had a run down feel though and the brochure promised a shop but only bread and croissant available in a small bar. A simple 3 course menu was however available together with limited take out service.

We had a two week stay at this site, and it was lovely the lake was amazing crystal clear for swimming and well managed with lifeguards. Free pedalos and kayaks for guests between 10.30 and 12.30 . Beautiful walk around the lake which we cycled also. Shop on site which was handy also a bar/restaurant which was excellent food was superb. Shower block facilities very clean and hot water constant very eco friendly site . Everything was well thought out pitch sizes very good although our first pitch was slightly small for our tent but we were told to go and choose which was great . Overall great holiday

We spent a pleasant four nights at this site, enhanced by the friendly and helpful welcome. We were very impressed with the management and facilities offered around the lake itself. A very pretty area and close to the Futurescope complex. Unfortunately, the site is let down by the toilet and washing blocks which are in need of refurbishment. Otherwise our rating would have been higher.
