A beautifully kept, very friendly site

Saint-Michel is both great for holidays and very convenient for all the main holiday routes across northern France. The attractive bar, reception and shop all run together to create a welcoming feel as soon as you arrive, there are lots of quiet lanes for cycling and the staff are a mine of information. Though superbly located for visiting the Bay of Mont-St.-Michel, including its shellfish centres, guided walks across the bay, and hugely improved visitor access to the famous fortified village and monastery on the mount, just a bit further afield are the medieval castle at Fougères, the picturesque copper-working centre of Villedieu-les-Poêles, and scenic coastal paths.

Owned by Sodetour and managed by Christophe Duchene, English spoken.

Set among mature trees and bushes, amid quiet Normandy countryside, just outside a small village. Le Mont-St.-Michel six miles, Avranches (shops and supermarkets) eight miles, Genêts (nearest sandy beach) 16 miles, St.-Malo 41 miles, Caen 73 miles, Ouistreham (Caen ferry port) 82 miles, Cherbourg 89 miles.

Open or part-shaded pitches; all with electricity (6A or 10A).

Low Season
Excellent site for exploring the lower Cotentin peninsula and the Baie de Mont-St.-Michel, or for stopping over en-route from the central Channel ports.

High Season
Friendly, busy family site in lush green countryside.

Worth noting
- BBQs permitted

- Dogs welcome

- Please note that some facilities may not be available for the full opening period of the campsite

Stayed here at the beginning of June, site was quiet - had free choice of pitches. Toilets & showers were always clean & plenty of hot water though the shower button only stays on for a very short time which can be frustrating. Bread can be ordered from reception for collection each morning. The main attraction is Mont St Michel - we cycled on bikes hired from site - very nice trip through back lanes away from traffic but be aware that it's about 16 Km each way. For motorhomers - there are no supermarkets close by, so do your shopping enroute or you'll have to drive out. For children, there is a nice play area and various animals (rabbits, donkeys, geese etc) for the kids to look at & make a fuss of. The road going past the site is quite busy - traffic en route to & from MsM.

This site didn't live up to expectations.

This site didn't live up to expectations. Welcome was curt and unenthusiastic although other staff encountered were helpful. The shop has all basics, fresh bread can be ordered every day,the snack bar has 2 dishes offered.Free wi-fi and TV in the bar. Toilets and showers are unisex but there are no toilet seats! They are clean in the mornings after 7am but unfortunately do not stay that way due to selfish people.Hot water is a big problem due to the reliance upon solar power. If it rains don't expect a hot shower which also have ridiculously short running times.Washing up was always done in luke warm water. Some pitches are incredibly tight to get into and some are also very small. This can be due to the trees that grow in the middle of some pitches! You may need a long lead for EHU. There is no feeling of space due to pitches being back to back, so little privacy despite hedges. The 'absolute silence' rule from 10pm is not adhered to and we found it very noisy well up to midnight on several nights. This may be due to the transient nature of most visits, just 1 or 2 nights. Cycling in the area is excellent with lots of well marked routes. We cycled to MSM, cheapest and easiest way to do it.You can leave your bike and then catch the free bus over the causeway or cycle over and leave your bike at the end of the causeway, which is not encouraged but we did it. There is a plethora of places to visit in the area, lots of lovely small villages and towns and although the Normandy beaches are a long day trip they are worth it as is Bayeaux. If you're looking for somewhere to watch the 2016 Grande Depart of Le Tour, I recommend a different site.It could be wonderful but it isn't. We wouldn't use it again although we will return to the area.

There are many attractions locally but visiting Mont Saint Michel can be a very expensive day out as the parking and bus arrangements have changed and so have the charges. The new owners have a programme of site improvement and the gardens and parkland are good additions to the site. I look forward to returning next year.

We have been caravanning here for 2-3 months a year since 2004. It is an attractive well managed site and the owners have a high standard of maintenance and development. It is a site that we will return to whenever the opportunity occurs. The facilities are good and more than adequate and the toilet blocks are cleaned regulary throughout the day and there is a swimming pool and an excellent play area for the children. Also there is an adults exercise area (parkland). There are many places to visit and plenty of small family owned restaurants within the area. For me and my wife it is the best site we have been to in forty years of caravanning in France. Love it.
