from £32.15 to £46.65 Per unit

Overview

Great for young families wanting to get a taste of France, not too far to travel from the ferry ports

With an indoor children’s pool and great pool complex, Le Bois de Bardelet is a great base for discovering the eastern Loire Valley, whether by car, by bike or on foot, and taking in the châteaux famous in this region. With large pitches and plenty of open space, the site organizes a range of activities to keep everyone occupied.

Rally Stewards will be Gary and Nicola Boulden.

Typical activities have previously included games, quizzes, meals in the campsite restaurant, barbecues, coffee mornings, evening activities and events, and site organised entertainments. Gary and Nicola look forward to developing this year's rally with the input of rally members.

This review is for Les Bois du Bardelet Rally

We went to this site as part of a rally, run by Gary and Nicola Boulden. This was our first rally and really made a difference for us. They got the balance just right; informal events you could take part in if you wanted to, which just opened the door to making a few friends and people to have a drink or just a chat with. We even had a sing-song and a bit of line dancing (thanks Nicola!). There was no pressure to take part but because of those get-togethers, we felt we could chat to people, knowing they were also happy to socialise. Nicola and Gary were really useful providing ideas of where to go and what to do - their info pack in the Stewards' tent was very informative. We didn't have small children with us, but it looked like the animation team do a great job with the kids; football tournaments, competitions, games, pool games etc. My only comment would be that there could be a bit more evening entertainment for the adults, so although there was an international quiz, it was aimed at the children, and the 8.30 pm disco seemed to finish when the children stopped dancing. No real effort to get the adults dancing; we like dancing too! There was another organised dancing evening which was great fun. The Activity Pack was well worth the money; we did archery, ptanque, table tennis, canoeing on the lake (there were more choices as well), all included in the Pack price. Our favourite day out was to Guedelon which is a castle about an hour away which is being built from scratch using medieval techniques; the English tour is a must. It was interesting seeing how castles were built, you get to visit all the tradesmen in the "village" seeing them working for real. From the campsite you can cycle into the Gien (4.5 miles each way), there's a market on Saturday, and the supermarket, or venture a bit further into Briare (11 miles each way) to see one of the oldest canals in Europe. Thank you to our Rally Stewards Gary and Nicola for making a good holiday great!
