A classic small family-run site

A very friendly site, in a spectacular alpine location. On the edge of the village, at the foot of Alpe-d’Huez (30 times stage for Tour de France, which will return in 2018) Bourg d’Oisans is a thriving village on the main route to Briançon and Italy. This is an ideal base for exploring this outstanding region, with the Venosc and Ecrins National Parks close by. Rafting, canoeing, mountain biking, walking trips; visits to an alpine botanical garden, a hydro-electric station, a mountain railway and a mountain museum are all locally possible.

Alpine style facilities; superbly located within walking distance of all the village facilities

This review is for A La Rencontre du Soleil

The site has hedge lined pitches which is lovely but there is a feeling of lack of space because the 'road' between is narrow and compacted stone so you still lack a bit of privacy and the whole place feels a bit cramped. Flat land being a premium in the alps!. We had a nice pitch but there were pitches I really wouldn't have wanted to stay on as they were small and very public. It's nice to have the pool but in Aug was full of children all the time and it is small. It was such a shame that they close the pool at 7pm, it would be good to have an adult hour 7-8. The lady manager is very nice and efficient as is her little white dog Meije. She gave us information and help on what to do - we canoed, rafted, walked and went on cable cars and up to the Mieje glacier. Lovely clean fully equipped wash block. I have to say that initially I didn't take to the site but it grew on me! It is a good position by le Bourg D'Oisan as you can access all the mountain locations conveniently. The small town is sweet with lots going on and a Saturday market. We had some good weather days but also torrential rain and thunder and lightning and on those days some of the pitches got water-logged so come prepared if you are in a tent especially. You can order your bread and pastries for breakfast from the camp office. Overall it was a nice stay.

Nice site but dated in terms of decor.

This review is for A La Rencontre du Soleil

Nice site but dated in terms of decor. Cleanliness is an issue both in washrooms and washing areas. Wheelchair user and site not suitable - cannot access the pool area nor the newly renovated play area. Disabled facilities limited - sink is high and loose if pressure applied to rim, shower seat has no legs and no natural light or ventilation. Services. It cleaned during our 2 night stay.

This review is for A La Rencontre du Soleil

All the facilities were open when we stayed during the middle two weeks of June (not always the case in France). Pitches are a good size and well defined with hedges. There are ample showers and sanitary facilities and an excellent heated pool with a movable roof. The on-site restaurant was open every day except Tuesday and was easily the best we have experienced in many years of camping. The site is about 5 minutes drive from Bourg d'Oisins where there is a varied range of restaurants and shops, including a good sized Casino supermarket. The principal leisure activity in the area is cycling and plenty of guides are available from the Tourist Information Centre in Bourg. Walkers will find numerous well marked paths both in the valley by the river or in the mountains. IGN 'Top 25' are excellent 1:25000 scale maps and can be obtained at home. 3335ET and 3336ET cover the local area but others are available in the outdoor activities shops in Bourg.
