Peaceful, rural, relaxed, adults-only hideaway, set in the Quercy Triangle dark skies area

Popular with returning customers from all over Europe, this British-owned adults-only country club makes for a peaceful, rural retreat, in an ancient and beautiful region steeped in rich and colourful history. Days out exploring this lovely area allow you to discover the local legends, imposing châteaux and picturesque medieval towns and villages, with lovely Rocamadour, Sarlat, Saint Cirq Lapopie and Cahors, plus the astounding chasm of the Gouffre de Padirac all close by.

Popular with walkers, artists and photographers, Château de Lacomté also delights nature lovers with the 30-acre estate host to swallowtail butterflies, three species of woodpecker, and in May and June many rare orchids. There are also frequent sightings of birds of prey, plus the occasional visit by hare or deer.

The region is famous for its gastronomy and full bodied wines, and you can take in the peaceful vista across the surrounding countryside while enjoying Sheila's cooking on the terrace, or indeed while taking a swim in the pool.

Be sure not to miss the view above your head – the site lies within the Quercy Dark Skies Triangle, one of the least light-polluted parts of France, making for an intense spectacle at any time, but especially during the annual Perseid meteor shower in mid-August.

Owned and run by Stuart and Sheila Coe.

Quite an isolated site with long and narrow access although directions supplied are very comprehensive. Easy to get lost though coming out. Large pool and english looking bar, meals available but pre-ording necessary. Sanitary block quite dated and a long walk from pitches. No loo roll, hooks in showers or bins in block, required to take shoes off outside wash block and walk over cold tiles. A bit put off by the 2 sided list of rules given at check-in and constant reminder notices written in a forceful manner which diluted the original friendly greeting. Otherwise potential for a great site. Rocomadour is an absolute must to visit with many other attractions near by which were enthusiasticly explained by the owner when we arrived.

This site did not deliver all that it advertised.

This review is for Château de Lacomté Country Club

This site did not deliver all that it advertised. The only entertainment was a live jazz band on the Thursday, no quiz night on the Monday as advertised - that was the entertainment. There was no fishing pond - may have been a fish pond not sure. The shower block was very clean however out of a possible 15 cubicles only 6 were open so you had to queue, this also meant cold showers on one occasion. Shower cubicles had nowhere to put your shower things (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel etc) add to that you had to keep pressing the button to keep the shower flowing. The peace was ruined on many days when other guests decided to fly their drones over the site. Left the site two days earlier than planned and paid for. Bar food was excellent. Did not see any birds of prey in fact only saw one Robin and some crows and of course plenty of pigeons!
