Camping Miles
Q. What is Camping Miles?
A. Camping Miles was an annual UK Club Sites incentive and reward scheme, which enabled members to collect stamps in a Camping Miles “Passport” each time they camped at a Club Site, which could be later used to claim a free night at a UK Club Site. Stamps were earned against paid for camping nights, and once enough had been accumulated, redeemed in return for a free night on a subsequent visit.
Q. Why is the Club’s Camping Miles scheme ending?
A. The scheme has always been intended as an annual offer, subject to change and revision. After several years of making this offer, the Camping Miles offer has run its course, and the Club is now looking at new ways to provide equivalent value to all members through other offers and initiatives.
Q. What is replacing Camping Miles?
A. Though we can’t at this time provide full details, the Club is developing a range of initiatives, which will provide benefits to a wider range of members than the previous Camping Miles Scheme. Full details of such offers will be announced in the Club magazine when these become available.
Q. When do I have to use my free nights by?
A. All earned free nights under the current Camping Miles scheme would need to be redeemed by 30th June 2010. After this point in time, the opportunity to redeem the nights will be lost, in line with previous year’s schemes and the terms and conditions printed on the 2009 Passport.
Q. How do I get a Camping Miles Passport?
A. A Camping Miles Passport can be obtained from the site office of any UK Club Site that you visit during 2009. Please note however that the opportunity to earn further Camping Miles/free nights by camping at a Club Site will cease on 31st December 2009.
Members with the Club Credit Card, presenting the appropriate credit card statements will find that a limited stock of 2009 Passports will be available at Club Sites after 31st December 2009 to enable the transfer of Camping Miles earned onto a 2009 Passport.
Q. Why can’t I use my free nights after 30 June 2010?
A. The redemption period of all annual Camping Miles schemes has always ended on 30th June of the following year. Allowing until 30th June 2010 ensures that everyone who has currently earned free nights still has an opportunity to redeem them in line with the terms of the scheme under which they earned the miles.
Q. Why can I only have one free night per stay?
A. The scheme has always been intended as both a reward, by giving a free night, and an incentive to further use Club Sites, by encouraging a subsequent visit. However, limitations on free camping have to be put in place in order to ensure that the scheme is sustainable and does not adversely affect the finances of the Club, or the subsequent prices we need to charge to all members in order to maintain the sites network.
Q. Why can’t I combine using my free night stay from Camping Miles with another offer?
A. Limitations on free camping are required to ensure that all our member offers and benefits remain viable and sustainable to the Club. This also ensures fair use, so that one part of our membership does not effectively end up subsidising another part of our membership.
Q. How do I claim my free nights?
A. Once you have sufficient stamps earned from previous visits in your Camping Miles Passport, a free night can be redeemed on check in at a UK Club Site against your camping fees. Simply present your Passport to the site office staff on check in, and they will deduct the value of a free night from your camping fees for the visit. Please note that a free night can only be redeemed as part of a minimum 2 night stay, and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. Free nights will need to be used before 30th June 2010, and they have no equivalent cash value.
Q. Can I still use my Club Credit Card?
A. Yes, although the Club’s Camping Miles scheme is ending on 30 June 2010, you can continue to use your card as normal and your other card benefits are unaffected.
Q. How do I know how many Camping Miles stamps I have earned through my Club Credit Card?
A. Your September 2009 statement will show the number of ‘Total Stamps’after the transactions summary. This is the number of Camping Miles stamps you have earned since the issue of your March 2009 Statement and is the final total stampsto transfer onto your Camping Miles Passport. Remember, you will need to transfer all your Camping Miles stamps onto your 2009 Passport and redeem free nights earned by 30 June 2010.
