Top ten models to see at the Motorhome and Caravan Show 2017

Today the Motorhome and Caravan Show opens its doors to visitors excited to get a first look at the 2018-season’s best new caravans, motorhomes and trailer tents, all under the same roof.

The show runs from 17-22 October at its regular home, the NEC Birmingham, and there are plenty of great reasons to drop in and take a look around.

I love to walk the halls at the show, checking out the new bells and whistles in the best tourers and campervans from home and abroad, and get hands-on with the best new gadgets and camping accessories.

If you’re seriously considering buying your next unit for the start of the new season, this is the place to be. Among the line-up, we’ve picked out five must-see caravans and five motorhomes as our star models:

CARAVANS

Airstream
The iconic, ‘silver bullet’ American trailer officially relaunches in the UK here at the show, with the Swift Group now the manufacturer’s official UK distributor.

Lunar Alaria
The show will be the first chance to see the full line-up of the luxury, wide-bodied range from Lunar.

Bailey Unicorn Segovia and Pegasus GT70
Bailey's Unicorn for 2018Bailey introduced the fourth generation of its top-of-the-range Unicorn in the summer, and we were particularly impressed by the family layout Segovia. Also, Bailey launches its special edition Pegasus GT70, a limited-edition model to celebrate 70 years of manufacturing, at the show.

Tabbert PEP
This colourful, family-focused range from the German brand returns to the UK after a long absence. They’re heavy and rather pricey, but they look fabulous.

MOTORHOMES

Bilbo’s Celex

Bilbo’s, who topped our Owner Satisfaction Awards 2017 for new motorhomes, celebrates its 40th anniversary manufacturing campervans in 2017, and celebrates this milestone with a special anniversary edition of its most popular VW campervan.

Swift Escape 604
Swift Escape 604This four-berth ’van is just 6m long, a compact little low-profile coachbuilt with four belted travel seats and a drop down bed. It has already won gongs for its design and innovation.

Lunar Cassini
For many, the show will be the first chance to see the latest coachbuilt motorhome line-up from Lunar, expanded for 2018 with the new Cassini range, based on the Renault Master chassis.

Chausson 711 Welcome Travel Line
The French manufacturer is renowned for innovation, and has delivered again here: it has two further cab seats situated behind the driver and passenger seats. On site, all four sweats swivel around a removable table, and there’s a large U-shaped rear lounge.

Hymer B-Class Supreme Line
Hymer B-Class Supreme LineThis new model really is the last word in luxury from the German manufacturing giant. Based on a new double floor chassis, it’s packed to the gunnels with hi-tech equipment. A must-see.
