National Camping and Caravanning Week takes centre stage

It’s Whitsun Week and that means three things to me. It’s half term for the schools and so it’s a great time to go away for a break. It’s National Camping and Caravanning Week (NCCW) and so the best way to go away is with a tent, caravan or motorhome. And my birthday always falls within the week itself – and that has traditionally meant being away from home because I too get away with the family.

The NCCW roadshow visits Salop LeisureThis year however, I’m celebrating being forty-several (still) with a visit to Glossop Caravans in Derbyshire as part of the Club’s NCCW roadshow. Glossop Caravans, a Preferred Dealer of the Club, is our host as we encourage members to Share the Moment: Go Camping, which is this year’s theme for the week that finishes on 4 June.

Members have been invited to share their memorable camping and caravanning moments, photos and stories on social media using the hashtags #ShareTheMoment and #MemorableMoments.

To get the fun going, the roadshow has been visiting Club Preferred Dealerships where the team has been setting up a range of activities for all the family. Yesterday I was at Salop Leisure in Shrewsbury, Shropshire where the fun included face painting, a climbing wall, bushcraft demonstrations, the Vango AirBeam challenge to see who can inflate an awning the quickest, plus cooking demonstrations and talks.

But NCCW roadshow events are not just for members – and it was great to see many non-members joining in the activities and sharing their camping stories too.

Club members Rob and Lis Cooper dropped by during their stay at Ebury Hill Club SiteAfter today’s fun in the sun (hopefully) at Glossop Caravans, the roadshow travels its way to Lowdhams Leisureworld in Nottingham to #ShareTheMoment with more campers in that area. If I have to be away from home and my family on my birthday, NCCW is certainly a great way to do it.
